Much of the joy I experience from photographing couples is having the opportunity to spend time getting to know them. My job allows me to meet people that I wouldn’t be introduced to otherwise. As we touch base throughout the wedding planning process and specially if we get to meet for a couple’s session I’m allowed to take a peek into my couple’s lives and little by little I begin to understand more about who and how they are.
As much as I consider myself a director behind the camera, helping stage and guide my couples into organic and natural poses I’m first and foremost an observer. Does this couple laugh big belly laughs? Are they reserved and show their love in a more quiet way?
I hope with each session to allow space for each couple to be how they truly are and capture them in their natural state.
Colby and Claire brought us to Harwich, Cape Cod. Not only will they be getting married there at Wequassett Resort but they got engaged in Harwich, across the river from Claire’s family home and have years of memories to look back on from a childhood spent growing up in the area. I can’t wait for us all to be reunited and to photograph their wedding this summer.
